Strange how I could have imagined some special kinship with the blind son of a tobacco farmer from North Carolina. Therein lies the power of music I guess. I love how his mischievous spirit comes across so strongly in his voice.

They put the cheese in Parchís.

First off, a few things you need to know about Parchís:

  • They were a children’s singing group from Spain who experienced a modest period of success in the early 80s.
  • The name Parchís is a reference to the Spanish adaptation of the Indian Cross and Circle game Pachisi
  • They apparently are the love children of The Jackson 5 and the Power Rangers.

There’s nothing else I can say that the video can’t say better.

Why the jumpsuits that look like pajamas? Why do the boys on each side keep winking at me? Why the musical hook with the flute? Why can’t I stop watching this?
